Mr. John Boyd

Mr. John Richard "Dick" Boyd, 66, of Frederick, died Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Joan Vadakin Boyd, who died in 1998.

Born July 14, 1937, in Malden, Mass., he was the son of the late Ralph and Mary Matthews Boyd.

A senior accounts executive with MCI for 20 years, Dick had previously retired from the U.S. Air Force as a technical sergeant after serving for 21 years. He enjoyed collecting stamps and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include three daughters, Pamela Spurlock and husband Robert of Visalia, Calif., Maureen Burdette and husband Billy, and Michele Brice and husband Stephen, all of Frederick; two sons, Scott Boyd and wife Lee of Germantown, and Chris Boyd and wife Summer of Leesburg, Va.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Teresa Boyd of San Diego.

Mr. Boyd had two brothers, Ralph and Francis Boyd, that preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 6, at 10 a.m. at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, with the Rev. Robert J. Deifel officiating.

Burial with military honors will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.

Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday, May 5, from 7 until 9 p.m.
